Mar 2015

March 4th, 2015 U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Denise Bauer visits SABCA  in Gosselies

On March 04th, 2015 HE the Ambassador of the United States of America, Denise Campbell Bauer visited SONACA’s and SABCA’s facilities located in Gosselies, near Charleroi, Belgium.

During her visit, Ambassador  Bauer was introduced to both companies’ competences. For SABCA, this concerns manufacturing of structural airframe subassemblies for civil and military aircraft and space launchers, development and manufacturing of mechatronic applications dedicated to aerospace use and the repair, overhaul and upgrade of military aircraft and aircraft equipments.

SABCA  has been key industrial partners in the F-16 production program since end of the ’70 and delivered 222 F-16 aircraft over the first ten years of collaboration with Lockheed Martin and later on thousands of aft fuselage, vertical fins and wings. SABCA still holds a Manufacturing Licence Agreement with Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Department of State for the manufacturing of F-16 Critical Parts, such as the Wing Skins and Wing boxes.

Besides, SABCA Charleroi has been a United States Air Force contractor for over three decades, providing in In-Theater Depot support to both U.S. Air Force F-16 and A10 fleets stationed in Europe. In this particular context, Ambassador Bauer witnessed SABCA’s work and continuous efforts to provide high quality and dedicated support to USAF planes.

Ambassador Bauer’s visit to SABCA  reaffirms the strong relationship existing for more than 35 years between SABCA and United States Government and Industries and highlights their common interest in exploring new cooperation opportunities, especially in the frame of the future aircraft capabilities of the Belgian Air Forces.

SABCA is a leading Belgian Aerospace company since almost 95 years, employing 1000+ highly trained persons. SABCA is active in civil aircraft design and manufacture (Airbus, Dassault, Gulfstream), military aircraft overhaul and upgrades (F16, F5, Mirage, helicopters, etc…) as well as in space programs (Ariane and Vega). These activities cover structural work as well as Thrust Vectoring Control systems and systems integration. SABCA has plants in Brussels and Charleroi,  a fully owned subsidiary SABCA Limburg specialized in aerospace composites and a new low cost assembly plant in Morocco called ASM Aero
